SYNOPSIS
“I want your fear. For your fear, like a current, rushes through your body. Your fear makes your heart pound, it renders your veins rich and full. Your fear hemorrhages deliciously within you.” This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker’s classic novel to the stage. As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances—in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humor and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker’s famous vampire.

SETTING
Late 1800s England and Transylvania

*NOTE
This play has blood and adult themes. If it had a rating, it would be R. Actors must also be comfortable with intimacy and touching. Women must be comfortable with corsets. Accents are welcomed at auditions but not required.

ROLES
RENFIELD: Male, Any age
A patient at Dr. Seward’s asylum and Dracula’s servant. A foreboding man who is always on the brink of complete insanity or clarity. Versatile, unhinged, and MUST be comfortable with blood and movement. Dance experience is welcome but not necessary.

DRACULA: Male, 30s-Middle Age
The centuries old count himself. A horrifying, but seductive, monster who stalks the shadows and terrorizes the rest of the characters. Stealthy, silent, and powerful. A character who cannot be afraid of intimacy or blood. This version of Dracula is literal, he should be a walking nightmare. This character has intimate moments with male and female characters, so be aware.

MINA: Female, Early-late 20s
A strong, willful, beautiful young woman who is engaged to Jonathon Harker. She takes matters into her own hands and is not easily frightened. Intelligent and caring, Mina is the true heroine of this story.

LUCY: Female, Early-mid 20s
Beautiful and naïve, Lucy is the dream of every young man. Best friends with Mina, Lucy is the target of Dracula since the beginning of the play. Must be able to play both delicate and powerful. She later turns into a succubus under the control of Dracula. She becomes threatening, powerful, and horrifying.

DR. SEWARD: Male, Late 20s-Early 30s
The impressive young doctor who runs the asylum and love interest of Lucy. A heartbroken man of science, he does everything in his power to save Lucy through reason. He is a stubborn man and is constantly infuriated by Renfield. Almost like a Jekyll and Hyde character between Lucy and Enfield.

JONATHON HARKER: This role has been cast and is not available for audition

VAN HELSING: Male, Middle Age
A man of the old world, Van Helsing is Dr. Seward’s mentor and Dracula’s foil. He is everything Seward is not and believes in the pagan beliefs that once ruled the Earth. Intelligent, quick witted, strong, and observant. He is the key to defeating Dracula.

(3) VIXENS/ATTENDANTS/MAIDS: Early 20s-Early 30s
Seductive young women who are Dracula’s brides. These women will play multiple roles throughout the play, be onstage for most of the play, and be masked to hide their identity. They follow Dracula’s bidding and cause slight chaos. These women should work together, as if they were the three fates from Ancient Greece, the three witches from Macbeth, the father, the son, and the holy spirit... or the opposite. Dancing experience welcome as they will also be doing a lot of movement. MUST be comfortable with intimacy, touching, and revealing clothing.
