Summer 2025 Auditions

Ithaca Shakespeare will be holding online auditions on April 12-13, 2025 for our 2025 Summer Season.

The season will feature an outdoor production of:

THE TEMPEST
Directed by Miranda Bianchi

One of Shakespeare's last plays, The Tempest is a story of shipwreck, magic, revenge, young love, freedom and oppression, fathers and daughters, conspiracy and comedy.

From the director:

Thank you for your interest in ISC’s “The Tempest” - we are so looking forward to seeing you at auditions! This production will focus on ensemble-building and creative collaboration, which is to say that we welcome and actively invite artists and actors from all creative practices and backgrounds. Familiarity with Shakespeare is of course helpful, but not a prerequisite. If you’re a circus performer, an improviser, a singer, a musician, a poet, a puppeteer - we want to see you at auditions. Casting for all roles is open to any and all genders and gender presentations. If you have any questions about the rehearsal process or production, or have access needs you’d like us to know about, please do not hesitate to reach out.

SCHEDULING AND LOCATIONS:

Rehearsals are scheduled to begin the week of May 26, 2025

Performances are July 17-20 and 23-27, 2025

Rehearsals are held at various locations in Ithaca, typically on 3 weeknight evenings and one weekend afternoon. Not all actors are called for every rehearsal. Individual schedules will vary depending on your role(s).

The rehearsal schedule will be heavier as we get closer to performances. The weekends of July 5-6 and 12-13 may have extended rehearsals on both weekend afternoons, and there may be additional weeknight rehearsals in the week prior to opening.

While we can usually accommodate a few isolated schedule conflicts, actors are expected to be generally available at our scheduled rehearsal times, especially in the weeks before opening.

All performances will be held at Robert H. Treman State Park. All performances start at 6 pm and actors are usually called no later than 5 pm.

Actors may have some pre-show / front of house responsibilities as part of the performance.

PLEASE NOTE: Our program is generally not set up to bring actors in from out of town. We do not have housing available, and actors receive a small stipend at the end of the run. We will not have any Equity contracts available this summer.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS:

If you can't make the scheduled auditions on April 12-13, you have the option of submitting a pre-recorded video audition instead. Record yourself performing 2-3 speeches from the sides and provide the link to your video on the registration form. Instead of choosing a time slot, select the option to be put on the waiting list. Otherwise, fill out the rest of the form normally.
