Theatre Winter Haven Announces Auditions for SUNSHINE BOYS and HONKY TONK ANGELS.
REQUIREMENTS

Auditionees who are interested in being considered for SUNSHINE BOYS should prepare a 1-minute monologue.

If you are invited to the callback, be prepared to read from the script.

Auditionees who are interested in being considered for HONKY TONK ANGELS should prepare a 32-bar cut (about 1 minute) of a musical theatre song.

Legible sheet music must be provided for the audition pianist. No a cappella or prerecorded accompaniment will be permitted.

If you are invited to the callback, be prepared to learn a short movement combination and wear appropriate movement attire for the movement combination. Sneakers or dance shoes are okay, but no sandals, crocs or heels.

Additionally, auditionees who are called back may also read/sing (if applicable) from the show.

SUNSHINE BOYS Character Descriptions:

Willie Clark – 65 – 85. Cantankerous, sharp-tongued, stubborn, clinging to the glory of days gone by. One Half of a great Vaudeville Act. Lives alone.

Al Lewis – 65 – 85. The other half of the comedy team. Elegant, kind, still very sharp. Lives with family.

Ben Silverman – mid 30’s to mid 40’s. Willie’s nephew. Hard working, caring, concerned about his uncle.

Registered Nurse – African American female, 35 – 50. No nonsense, seen it all before, professional.

Patient - Male, could be any age over 35.

Miss MacKintosh – Burlesque Nurse, 20-40. Very curvy, classic and unapologetic bimbo.

Eddie – 20 – early 30’s. Quick, Capable. New generation show biz.

HONKY TONK ANGELS Character Descriptions:

Angela - Mezzo/Belter (F#3 - D5) Plays mid-30/40s; A Texas housewife, mother of 6, with a great sense of humor and a fiercely independent streak. Angela is brash, fun, outspoken, and ultimately the mother figure of the group. Strong improvisation/crowd work skills a plus.

Darlene - Mezzo/Belter(D3 - Eb5) Plays late teens to early twenties; A young woman who grew up in a coal mining town, Darlene is a sweet simple country girl with a lot of heart. Clogging/Tap skills and basic guitar skills a plus.

Sue Ellen - Mezzo/Belter (E3 - G#5) Plays mid 30s; A Los Angeles career woman, she is a "citified" country woman who is smart, sexy, and frustrated. Strong dancer. Clogging/Tap skills, roller skating skills, and baton twirling (or other fun tricks) a plus.


OTHER INFORMATION

As an incentive to sign up for the audition with Auditions Manager, the first hour of each open call will be given over exclusively to those who pre-register through this service.

Pre-registration is recommended, but not required.

Once pre-registration through this website is closed, auditionees may show up at either open call and complete their registration in person.
