The ultimate show-biz musical! 42 nd Street celebrates Broadway, Times Square and the people who make the magic of musical theatre. At the height of the Great Depression, aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer comes to the big city from Allentown PA, and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show. But just before opening night, the leading lady breaks her ankle. Will Peggy be able to step in and become a star?

[PEGGY SAWYER]: female, 20-29, Extraordinary tap dancer who can sing like a Broadway leading lady and the play the ingenue believably; mezzo/belt.

[JULIAN MARSH]: male, 40-49, A powerful and charismatic actor to play a successful Broadway director; baritone, up to an Ab.

[DOROTHY BROCK]: female, 40-49, A Genuine Broadway star with a capital “S”; very elegant; must move well and possess a strong sense of comic timing; low alto to low Eb.

[BILLY LAWLOR]: male, 20-39, Extraordinary tap dancer who can sing like an angel and still play “the juvenile” believably; soaring tenor.

[MAGGIE JONES]: female, 40-49, Half of the writing duo; must sing and move well and be able to play comedy with great warmth and charm; character alto.

[BERT BARRY]: male, 40-49, Half of the writing duo; must sing and move well and be able to play comedy with vaudeville timing; character baritone.

[ABNER DILLON]: male, 40-60, Dorothy Brock’s “sugar daddy” from Oklahoma; baritone.

[ANN REILLY “ANYTIME ANNIE”]: female, 20-29, One of the girls in the “chorus”; first rate tap dancer and natural comedienne; alto/big belt.

[PAT DENNING]: male, 40-50, A handsome, down-on-his-luck vaudeville performer; Dorothy Brock’s true love; baritone.

[ANDY LEE]: male, 20-40, The dance director of “Pretty Lady”; must be a first rate tap dancer; baritone. Will double in ensemble.

[ENSEMBLE]: 20s-30s, Young, energetic and charismatic tap dancers with broad vocal range; several smaller roles will be cast from the ensemble.
