Join us for an exciting staged theatrical concert version of Disney’s 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'! We are seeking passionate performers to bring this timeless story to life through powerful music and emotional storytelling.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:

This is a staged theatrical concert featuring a full orchestra and choir onstage. The featured ensemble cast will be required to memorize both script and music and learn simple staging. All involvement in the production is volunteer-based, with a portion of proceeds going toward local charity.

CASTING INFORMATION:

We prioritize diverse casting and encourage applicants to explore non-traditional roles. We encourage performers of all ethnicities, abilities, gender identities/expressions, and all body types to audition. We are seeking singers who act, actors who sing, and dancers/movers. All performers must be local to Central Florida, as no housing will be provided for this production. All participants must be 18+ by April 1, 2025 to be considered for casting.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Claude Frollo (Male, appears 40+, Vocal Range: E2-D4)
· Self-righteous archdeacon of Notre Dame Cathedral and the most powerful cleric in Paris, Frollo uses his influence to do whatever it takes to rid the city of those he sees as “vermin,” while he lusts after Esmeralda. He is the reluctant yet authoritative caretaker of Quasimodo. Calculating, cold, manipulative, and obsessive.

Jehan Frollo (Male, Appears 20s-30s, Vocal Range: G#2-Eb4)
· Claude’s reckless younger sibling. With Florika, they birth Quasimodo, who is then left in Frollo’s care. He is wild, passionate, and strong-willed- a stark contrast to Claude’s rigid decorum.
· This cameo role will double as a featured soloist or member of the ensemble.

Florika (Female, Appears 20s-30s, Vocal Range C#4-F5)
· A free-spirited immigrant, mother of Quasimodo.
· This cameo role will double as a featured soloist or member of the ensemble.

Quasimodo (Appears Under 30, Vocal Range Bb2-Bb4)
· The imprisoned and mistreated bell-ringer of Notre Dame and Claude Frollo’s charge. Lonely and staunchly obedient to Frollo, he uses his vivid imagination to bring to life the bells and gargoyles of the cathedral. Despite his timidness and uncertainty, he quickly befriends Esmeralda. Though young, he is big-hearted, and steps into his bravery when the stakes are high.

Clopin Trouillefou (Vocal Range: C3-G4)
· The clever and charismatic leader of the Court of Miracles. As the master of ceremonies for the Feast of Fools,he is witty and playful, but boasts a darker, serious nature when not performing for the crowd.
· This supporting role may double as a featured soloist or member of the ensemble.

Captain Phoebus de Martin (Appears 25-45, Vocal Range : Ab2-Ab4)
· Returning to Paris after serving in the war, Phoebus takes a new position as Captain of the Cathedral Guard. Overconfident and charming, with a swagger that conceals a strong moral compass and deep compassion, leading to the ultimate defiance of the corrupted Frollo.

Lieutenant Frederic Charlus (Appears 20-30)
· Young Lieutenant of the Cathedral Guard and loyal friend to Phoebus.
· This cameo role will double as a member of the ensemble.

Esmeralda (Female, Vocal Range: Eb3-Db5)
· A beautiful, free-spirited, and compassionate young woman who possesses the strong sense of justice and morality that Frollo lacks.

Madam (Female Presenting)
· Tired owner of a brothel and safe haven for immigrants. A bit of a saleswoman.
· This cameo role may double as a featured soloist or member of the ensemble.

Saint Aphrodisius (Vocal Range: B2-E4)
· A stained-glass image that comes to life. Genuine, Witty, Humorous.
· This cameo role may double as a featured soloist or member of the ensemble.

Saintly Statues (Singers Who Act)
· Initially his only friends, the Saintly Statues guide Quasimodo through his journey and narrate the action for the audience. Though mostly utilized as featured soloists and narrators, singers should be comfortable with acting and some minimal blocking.

Ensemble (Movers/Actors who Sing, Mover/Dancers)
· A vibrant and eclectic ensemble, showcasing diverse ages, genders, and identities. As a unified ‘Greek Chorus’, they take on multiple roles (Immigrants, dancers, gargoyles, soldiers, congregation, townspeople, etc.), including some individual stand-out cameo roles. We are looking for actors with strong physical storytelling abilities for all roles.
