REQUIREMENTS

Video submissions are due by October 1st, with in-person call backs on Sunday, October 9th.

*Actors are asked to prepare a short vocal selection in the style of the show. (We are not counting bars, but just a short selection.) Please sing with piano or a background track. NO ACAPELLA PLEASE! Please include a one minute monologue of your choice on the same video link.


GUIDELINES

TSP is seeking a cast of all ethnicities, adults ad teens who appear 15 and older!
*Only seeking non union actors at this time.

Rehearsals:
Monday-Friday Nights-
Monday, January 2nd Rehearsal week 1 6-10pm**
January 9 Rehearsal week 2 6-10pm**
January 16 Rehearsal week 3 6-10pm**
January 21 Rehearsal week 4 6-10pm**
January 30 Rehearsal week 5 6-10pm** (teens out by 10pm except Friday)
Tech week Sunday Feb 5 12-6pm (6-11pm all week until opening Thursday)

Show runs: February 9-26th Thurs-Sunday (mats Sat and some Sundays)

*Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal.
**The adult cast may be asked to stay until 11pm only if it's absolutely necessary. We will try to release as close to 10pm as possible.
***Some Saturday evening rehearsals may be added for emergency situations only.

CASTING BREAKDOWN:

[ALYSSA]
Any ethnicity, 18 to 22, Mix/belt up to a D.A high school senior. Tries desperately to fit in. A cheerleader. Secretly Emma's girlfriend, but afraid to come out. Afraid to stand up to her mother. Pop voice. Strong singer.

[EMMA]
Any ethnicity, age 18 to 22, Mix/belt up to a C#. A high school senior. Forced into the spotlight because she asked her girlfriend to the prom. A reluctant poster child for gay / lesbian youth. Very smart, a bit of a tomboy quality. Sweet pop voice. Strong singer.

[DEE DEE ALLEN]
Any ethnicity, 30’s – 50’s, Alto. A current Broadway diva. A huge ego to match her huge talent. No filter. Hilariously self-involved, but yearns to do something good for someone other than herself. Strong Singer. Big, Broadway belter.

[BARRY GLICKMAN]
Any ethnicity, 30’s – 50’s, High Baritone/Low Tenor. A very gay Broadway star. Completely politically incorrect and doesn’t know it. Impulsive and loves to make a scene everywhere he goes. Strong singer. Big, Broadway belter.

[TRENT OLIVER]
Any ethnicity, 30’s – 40’s, Baritone. A pretentious Broadway star who is probably better known for TV infomercials. Loves the sound of his own voice. Strong singer, pop and legit.

[ANGIE]
Any ethnicity, 30’s – 40’s, Alto with a belt. An ensemble member in the Broadway production of “Chicago”. Jaded Fosse girl with a heart of gold. Strong Singer.

[SHELDON]
Any ethnicity, 30's - 40’s. A charismatic press agent. Traditional musical theatre sound.

[MS OR MR. HAWKINS]
Any ethnicity, 30’s – 50’s, High Baritone. A small town principal. Easily flustered. Straight-laced. A Broadway enthusiast. Good singer.

[MRS. GREENE]
Any ethnicity, 30’s – 40’s, Alto. Alyssa's Mother and the school board president. Very strong, controlling and intimidating. Loves her daughter very much but has a very specific view of what is "right" and "wrong" for her daughter and the school. Strong Singer.

(SHELBY/KAYLEE/NICK/KEVIN)
School students who can be bullies but eventually learn to accept Emma.

[ENSEMBLE]Singers and Dancers:
Characters are male and female, age 16 to 40, all ethnicities. To portray high school students and various characters in the ensemble. Must sing/dance very well.
