For the audition, actors must prepare TWO of the three options defined below.
OPTION A) A 1-minute contemporary monologue of your choice, memorized (material need not be for young audiences)
OPTION B) Read for ONE character from ONE of the following sides, selected from the upcoming season’s shows (link to sides under “Resources” at the top right of this page. Magik will provide copies of the sides and a reader in the room for you) :
- Side 1: read for EDDIE or PEN - Side 2: read for IGUANA or MOTH - Side 3: read for MOTH or CRICKET - Side 4: read for SELENA MARIA or FELLY
OPTION C) Sing the TWO musical cuts from Schoolhouse Rock Live! that are range-appropriate for you (link to sheet music and tracks under “Resources” at the top right of this page. Magik will provide and play the music tracks during the audition) :
**NOTE: Actors wishing to be considered for Schoolhouse Rock Live! MUST choose option C**
- For Soprano/Belters: Sufferin’ ‘Til Suffrage & Interplanet Janet
- For Tenors: Three Is A Magic Number & Gravity

OTHER INFORMATION
Because we are requiring digital headshots and resumes, you do NOT need to bring a printed headshot/resume to the audition.
Those called back for Schoolhouse Rock Live! will be invited to a dance call at a future date. Other callbacks may be held on a per-show basis.
Because Magik serves schools and families, rehearsals and most performances are held during daytime hours. Magik is located in downtown San Antonio, in Hemisfair Park.
Magik is a fully vaccinated company; all incoming employees are expected to provide proof of vaccination.
The pay rate for actors is $400/week, plus a monthly parking stipend.
